Speaking Words Of Faith

Updated: Apr 28, 2022

“For truly I tell you, if you have faith the size of a mustard seed, you will tell this mountain, ‘Move from here to there,’ and it will move. Nothing will be impossible for you.” Matthew 17:20

The hardest day of my life but yet the most rewarding was the day I stepped on those yellow footprints at the Marine Corps Recruit Depot in Parris Island, South Carolina. I will never forget how scared I was once the reality hit that I was going to be there for boot camp. I was away from family and friends, and the only person I could speak to was the Drill Instructor only when I was spoken to. All of our personal items were confiscated. I was no longer in the safety of my comforts but in the hands of stern, strong, tough Women Marines. I could talk to the Lord also if I had any faith at the time. It was definitely a challenge for those three months.

On the first day, introductions and pep talks were given by the leadership. It was like I was at a Girl Scout troop meeting. All of a sudden, the cordial Drill Instructors started getting up close to the recruit’s face and yelling from the top of their lungs. Footlockers, mattresses, bedding, clothing, shoes, sea bags, and everything were scattered on the floor tossed about. It looked like a tornado had passed through the squad bay. Our assignment was to clean the area as fast as we could. Just put it away! We would sort through our items later but the task at hand was to get the squad bay clean and fast. The mission was accomplished in a couple of minutes, but not without lots of misplaced items.

Later that evening we retrieved our items and secured them in our footlockers. As I was going through my footlocker, I noticed a very thin, very small pendant. It was as small as my thumbnail. It was made of gold and inscribed: “If you have faith as a mustard seed, nothing will be impossible for you.” Matt. 17:20. It would serve as a reminder constantly throughout boot camp. I did not want to throw this pendant away; I hid it in the seam of my seabag where it was never found by anyone. Nor did anyone admit to having it because they would have gotten into trouble. Maybe it was left behind by a previous recruit. Whoever left it behind; I knew I had to safeguard it.

Have you ever gone through a moment, a season, and a hard time in life and wondered, “When can I get a break?”

The little pendant was just a small powerful weapon I carried with me for years. The weapon so powerful, that I was able to complete boot camp. I was able to overcome many difficult situations. I am able to be victorious, through speaking words of faith. I can move mountains in my life. The mountain of fear, the mountain of doubt, the mountain of anger is gone. I am reminded that when I act in faith, I can speak of the goodness of Jesus and all He has done for me. I can sing and shout the praises to God for setting me free, for healing me, for making me clean.

Through faith, I know that the Lord chose me to help others for such a time as this. It is a great honor, privilege, not that I personally deserve His mercy, grace, love, peace, joy, or anything special, yet Jesus purposes it in his heart to grant me the desires of His heart in abundance.

When times get hard, or when I feel the world yelling at me, scattering my belongings, causing chaos, I know that by faith I have the power to speak to these mountains and they will be removed. How do I, in my weaknesses and inadequacies, attempt such a task? I remind myself of all that the Lord has done for me in the past, He will do it again. I remind myself that all things are possible with God and for me when I exercise the gift of faith. Healing, restoration, and forgiveness are mine today when I believe.

Faith tells me that though for a time things may seem overwhelming, Jesus overcame them all. Death could not hold Him down. He took the keys and gave them to us so that the gates of hell will not prevail. Praise the Lord! We have the same Holy Spirit in us that dwelt with Jesus who accomplished the purposes of God by overcoming the temptations, trials, testing, and tribulations.

All that is in Jesus now lives in me. I have overcome the power of darkness, the schemes of the enemy, and by no means shall anything harm me. I thank the Lord and remind satan of all God has done, what Jesus did on the cross, and the power of the Holy Spirit that is in me. Not by might, not by power, but by the Spirit of the living risen King of Kings, and Lord of Lords. I overcome by the blood of the lamb and by the word of our testimony. What He did for me, He did for you too.

Speak into existence the words of truth to manifest into the atmosphere of the spirit and it shall be done on earth as it is in Heaven.

Here are a few declarations of faith that you can use.

· Jesus abides in me and I abide in Him.

Whatever you ask according to God’s will, you have in Christ Jesus. By faith you have the exceedingly, abundantly, above, overflowing, uncontainable, unfathomable, immeasurable, oozing, purging, inheritance of the almighty, who is supreme, sufficient, providing, all that you could ever want or need.

What do you want or need today? Is it healing, is it restoration of relationships, is it direction, is it a closer walk with the Lord?

Challenge yourself every day before the LORD to exercise this free gift of faith and see which of your mountains He will remove. It’s always your turn for your breakthrough. Speak to your mountain and watch it be removed.
